Where Were You
Today was a long day, but needed to take time to remember the importance of today...Forever etched in my mind, is hearing from my coworker Pam that the first plane had went into the Trade Center....and kept asking how can you do that ...the tv's brought into the courthouse, and at the end of the day, walking out of the courthouse with the now late Judge Spires and seeing Air Force One in the sky....and calling Dad and telling him Mom and I were going to be late as Police were having to control traffic at the gas stations...My life had been so sheltered in small town America and can remember Dad worried that Mom and I were taking this too hard...But the night that Dan Rather was on Letterman, and Dad sitting in this very room with me watching..my dad cried with me along with Dan Rather...over the ones that lost their lives this day and the end of innocence in America....The kids I work with are too young (or hadn't even been born yet) to remember...so its our duty as humans to tell the story of 9/11/01....

Wow, I forgot you were still at the State's Attorney's office then. Can you believe it's been seven years? If we only knew then (9/11/2001) what would happen a few short weeks later ...
ReplyDeleteSeven years. Wow.
Not only is it our duty to tell others of 9/11, we need to tell all the kids (er, the Shelton clan grandkids) about their Grandpa Shelton. Emmy was Katrina's age now when we lost him. Does she remember him?
Miss you, sister.
Completely unrelated to my previous comment, have you heard of www.peachycheap.com ? I saw it and thought of you. Cheap scrapbooking stuff, one deal a day!
